I was having a conversation with my father the other day about how the religious right and the Republican party have lost credibility with such a large portion of the American public. I think this is a typical example.

I think of the bracelets that have gone out of fashion, and ask, "What would Jesus do?" Sadly, the fringe elements of these groups have given the whole a bad name. Regardless of your views on Christianity or the pro-life / pro-choice debate, it does not take a tremendous amount of reflection to see that the tactics enacted by a few give the rest a bad name.

Those that would bomb an abortion clinic for Jesus are following similar behaviors to those that would bomb a marketplace for Allah. Think about it.

Judy Blume didn't just get harassing e-mails; she received death threats for this. Pretty ironic for a group of activists who claim to fight for the "right to life." Harumph.
