Teamsters endorse Meg Tuthill

Teamsters Joint Council 32 DRIVE has endorsed 10th Ward City Council candidate Meg Tuthill.

In endorsing Tuthill, Teamsters’ representatives said they knew she “will work to protect the rights of Minnesota’s working men and women.” Tuthill, who was endorsed by the 10th Ward DFL at its convention on April 18, said she was delighted to be DFL/Labor endorsed. “I thank the Teamsters for their confidence in my campaign and my prospects as a Council Member,” Tuthill said. “If elected, I will be proud to pursue policies that support working men and women in the city.”

Meg Tuthill wins DFL endorsement!

Today, the 10th Ward DFL Convention endorsed Meg Tuthill for Minneapolis City Council. Tuthill won the endorsement on the convention’s second ballot, receiving 62.6% of the vote. Nearly 200 delegates attended the convention.

Tuthill said that she was “delighted” to win the endorsement. “I am humbled and honored by the support I have received from DFL delegates and the community. I thank the delegates for their support and confidence. I pledge to work hard to win this seat in the November election.”

“I ran a grass roots campaign for the endorsement from the beginning” Tuthill said. “I encouraged residents to attend their precinct caucuses, and I contacted all the delegates to win their support.”

Tuthill, who did not seek the endorsement of elected officials who do not live in the 10th Ward, said that she has already received calls from elected officials who had endorsed her opponent, offering to help her campaign.

Tuthill said that she would reach out to her opponent’s supporters to unify the DFL Party in the 10th Ward campaign.

With her husband Dennis, Tuthill – a 40-year resident of the 10th Ward – owns and operates Tuthill’s Balloon Emporium, a fixture on Hennepin Avenue. She is a passionate supporter of neighborhoods and has a long history as a neighborhood activist.

Tuthill said that her top priorities, if elected, will be strengthening public safety, supporting public education, and reinforcing city finances. She also pledged to return open, responsive, inclusionary constituent relations and service to the 10th Ward.

Tuthill is also endorsed by the DFL Feminist Caucus and Stonewall DFL.

Tuthill says “The campaign for the November election begins tomorrow!”
